Center for Birds of Prey
A designed habitat for a large collection of birds of prey which are housed at a facility that provides avian medical care for injured birds, conservation initiatives and education.
The size and amount of enclosure for each particular unit varies dramatically, reflecting from a distance each bird inhabitant’s size and relative need for privacy. A minimally invasive foundation system was implemented to carefully choreograph placement among existing trees with absolute minimum in site disturbance to engage visitors with the marsh front site as thoroughly as possible. The basic prototype of the building form adapted to various configurations serving different purposes with a consistent sensibility.
